Somewhere far, far away from our little world may be a planet that takes upwards of 20,000 years to orbit our sun, and it has has been affectionately nicknamed…Planet 9. (Original!) Discovered by researchers Konstantin Batygin and Mike Brown (that guy that “killed” Pluto), they say the planet is up to 10 times as massive as our Earth, making it well beyond the size of any of the discovered dwarf planets like Pluto. To be clear, this is not the dreaded “Planet X” that has been bandied about online as the end of our Earth. “Recent analyses have shown that distant orbits within the scattered disk population of the Kuiper Belt exhibit an unexpected clustering in their respective arguments of perihelion,” says the report from The Astronomical Journal.
