Kepler may not have found an alien megastructure, but it DID find over 100 new planets.

Check out the article from EarthSky on Kepler’s discoveries here.

So what does NASA do when a space telescope has a major malfunction? They repurpose it to do what it was meant to do, just a little closer to home. The original Kepler mission had found 1000 exoplanets, but it wasn’t done yet. They used some true engineering ingenuity (SURPRISE! Nasa.) and figured out how to stabilize the telescope for views closer to our galactic neighborhood. Kepler had a huge year in 2015, making us ponder life in the universe with the discovery of Earth 2 and the possibility of an alien megastructure late.
